The BC government introduced legislation on March 28, 2022, known as Bill 12 - 2022, to allow for the creation of a cooling off period that will allow buyers to back out of a purchase after signing a Contract of Purchase and Sale.
Vancouver's mayor passed a motion to potentially allow 2,000 Vancouver houses to be stratified with up to six units. This is part of a push to create more housing options besides the traditional Vancouver condos,1/2 duplexes and large detached houses. The city will investigate the options and determine how best to proceed later this year.
