Squamish First Nation has approved the $3 billion Senakw housing development project at the south end of the Burrard Bridge (view location) in Kitsilano Vancouver, BC. They propose to build 6,000 homes in 11 towers with the tallest being 56 stories. It will have the highest tower in the typically low rise community of Kitsilano and forever change the skyline of Vancouver. Global News reported that construction is expected to begin in 2021.

Squamish First Nation is partnering with developer Westbank to bring the project to fruition. As much of the housing will be rental, it will bring long term revenue to Squamish First Nation while providing much needed rental housing to Vancouver. There may also be some subsidized rental homes for their own members.
