Vancouver Property Tax Increase
The City of Vancouver plans to increase property taxes by approximately 9 percent. Council says increased revenue will be used for “an overall plan for the city and a big push to reduce climate-change effects”. Council is expected to add 25 police officers and 30 firefighters to keep up with population growth and the overdose crisis, along with an increase in public transit services.
Vancouver Empty Home Tax Increase
On another note, Vancouver city council has approved a 25% increase to its Empty Homes tax. According to Mayor Stewart “additional revenues will now be used to provide housing for Vancouver’s most vulnerable residents”.
